Flowers have been used to express “love” across countries at all times – no matter for the relationship among family, couples or friends. We deliver flowers to people for romance, departure, consolation and yearning. Flowers are loaded with the power of love; thus, I choose them as the material for my creation. I post notes everywhere to collect withered flowers from different people. Flowers are from their loved ones, family seniors or themselves; some are from graveyards, in the memory of those passing away. Every flower has a story. I color each flower with nail polish, photo shoot and make herbarium specimens, hoping to keep and continue love with infinity. Among all the color pigments, I think nail polish is the most humane. Nail polish, coming into existence around 3000BC and created by Chinese, used to be a way to show one’s social status. In 15th century, black and red nail polishes were royal symbols in Chinese Ming Dynasty. Nowadays, for beauty reason, people like to apply or enjoy seeing others with nail polish. To me, it is like true love that makes people more beautiful and attractive. Hence, I use nail polish to seal and keep the love of every flower, to continue love infinitely and endlessly. Photos are taken in the format of 1:1, which is the same with Polaroid film size. Polaroid is used for important events to keep memory in time. In my eyes, every flower is beautiful and worthwhile to be kept in the memory.
