Entry Description

Architecture is an abstraction constructed from nature. It is an intermediary of light. Photographs situate us specifically in relation to something that remains off the map of historicist readings. The deliberate exclusion of markers in these pictures is not an irresponsible, vain, or ahistoricist gesture. These images point to a link between the “experience of place” and the enigmatic structure. We place the viewer before a landscape whose spatial dimension is on the verge of collapsing into a flat abstraction. If these pictures harbor a story, it is a story about the transformation of the depth of the landscape. These photographs require a new way of looking.
