Entry Description

Tehran - An Ocean of Dreams Capturing the hopes, dreams and the despair of Iran`s "Burnt Generation" In 2011, during my second visit in Iran, I got into Tehran`s underground theatre and art culture. For this project I combined anonymized portraits of artists and activists with street views and scenes from underground performances, reflecting the despair and frustration after the suppression of the "Green Revolution" in 2009. Behind the public veil, the off-scene in Tehran is amazingly vivid and creative, though many young people, especially artists and former activist leave the country if anyhow possible. The photographic series was completed by writings of some of the people I met about them being activists, imprisoned, as well as about their current hopes and dreams.
