About Photographer

Harrison Saragossi is an emerging talent in both photojournalism and art. Through his work he expresses social issues relevant to today. He is particularly concerned with cultural dictations. He argues that our basic instincts have become culturally predetermined and it is difficult to find a part of our lives that are not. He often references the work of Maslow and Wolf. On a broader level he deals with the human condition and in his recent photojournalism work he explores dementia. This is a more personal body of work and assisted him in dealing with the loss of a loved one to the same disease. The work offers and insight into the lives and struggles of people with dementia. He was particularly successful in 2008, being a part of over 20 exhibitions nationally and internationally. He graduated from Queensland College of Art in 2008 with an award for academic excellence. He was a Finalist in the GAS Award, the Alumni Network Art Prize, The Mosman Festival Photography Competition, The Olive Cotton Award for Photographic Portraiture and the Wallace Bishop National Photographic Competition. He was also a semi-finalist in the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize and commended for his work in the AIPP QLD Student Folio of the Year.
