On a visit to Nenets

Reindeer breeding is probably one of the rarest professions. In our region, on Yamal, there are approximately 14,000 man that live together with the herds of deers. These people in majority are “Nentsi” by nationality and are representatives of native population. They are very hardworking and hospitable. The native population of Yamal lives in the remote corners of peninsula. They have the same way of life as several hundred years in the past. It is necessary to spend about week to get to the nearest village by a deer. Therefore it is possible to get to the hospital only by a helicopter.
