Vices

The world we live it today with digital cameras and I phones, everyone is a photographer, I find that photography is losing its artistic vision and beauty. As a photographer and a photography collector-I often find myself obsessed with old cameras and old technics I like to challenge myself trying new cameras and new ideas using the amazing history of photography. I find myself using my digital camera only for work these days and working strictly with vintage cameras and film. This series “Vices” was photographed with a wet plate collodion process that I feel illustrated the magical innocence of youth alongside the darker recesses of human nature. A vintage perspective on childhood, punishments with a little humor.

Jamie Johnson is a Los Angeles photographer specializing in children documentary projects. As a mother and documentary photographer whose bread and butter comes from photography, Jamie's passion for faces of the next generation has been a life long focus. She has traveled the world capturing images of children and childhood around the globe. From Laos to Cuba, from the Amazon to India and around the world and back, she has found a universality in the world of children and her passion grows stronger with each new adventure.
