Going underwater to photograph someone is not just an exercise in diving technique, breathing, swimming, moving. It is a deep human communication experience. It is an exercise in making yourself understood and understanding what is in front of you. It is, i think, the art of planning for something and expecting something completely unpredictable to happen - and even counting on it. And when the unexpected happens, it is the ability to allow yourself to accept what can later turn out to be a gift of the odds. It is a strong rule of setting up a set of rules so that you have what to break. It is about adaptation and seizing the moment. It is a personal and rewarding process and i hope i can share some of those feelings in my work.
I come from a mixed background of arts - studied drawing and etching, but also photography and cinematography. Currently working as a graphic/animation artist, also doing cinematography, photography and color grading at Aesir Studio (Bucharest,Romania), i am continuously interested in the world of image. The underwater medium has been perfect for me to try and translate some of my vivid dreams and thoughts. I am very dedicated to model photography. It is a great experience on so many levels, and you get to immerse not only in water but also in a deeply human, emotional experience of communication.
