Entry Description

I am living in the Boso peninsula in Japan, the peninsula is defined by the Pacific Ocean. In this area, whaling is conducted from ancient times. The oldest record of whaling in this place dates back to B.C 8000. In summer whaling season, Baird's Beaked Whales are landed and the local town is animated. The Baird's Beaked Whales are species not regulated by IWC (International Whaling Commission). However, whaling in this area is drastically scaled back recent years because of strong criticism from oversea. The number of whales caught is 25 last summer. We may be the last generation who know real whaling. I think I have to keep the record of whaling.
