"Roots" is one of Nando Esteva's personal projects, in which he explores the pairing gastronomy-culture through the prime food item. It is an exercise of visual poetry formed by eight photographs in which ancestral traces tinge the imagined skin of the vegetal. Thus, the tattoo on the food item represents the cultural charge we receive in our dishes, its identity, its message. When cuisine becomes art, we start reflecting on the symbolic value of its components.
The Mallorcan photographer (Palma, 1979) has been working since he was very young in the world of advertising, where he has specialized in sectors such as hospitality, architecture, industrial products and, of course, gastronomy. The culinary image has become, in fact, a fundamental thread in Nando Esteva's career.
